Coconut chutney


Coconut(thengai) chutney 

Ingredients:

Fresh shredded coconut   -1/2 cup
Roasted gram (pori kadalai )  -1/2 cup
Hot green chillie  -5
Tamarind  (small gooseberry ) size
Asafoetida  a pinch
Mustard seed -1 tsp
Curry leaves  -4
Dry chillie  -1
Oil  - 3 tbsp
Salt to taste

Method:

  • Grind coconut, roasted gram, hot green chillie, tamarind, asafoetida and salt by adding water to chutney consistency (thick ).
  • In a pan heat oil add mustard seed. When the mustard seed start to splatter add broken dry chillie, curry leaves cook for few seconds.
  • Add this to the ground paste mix well and serve.
