Onion garlic chutney


Onion garlic chutney

Ingredients:

Shallots   - 1 cup
Garlic  -10 pods
Hot dry chillie  -8
Shredded coconut  -2 tbsp
Tamarind  -small (gooseberry ) size
Asafoetida powder -1 pinch
Mustard seed  -1 tsp
Curry leaves  -4
Oil  -2 tbsp
Salt to taste

Method:

  • Soak tamarind with 1/4 cup of water until it becomes soft (15 min ).
  • Heat a tbsp of oil and fry the hot dry chillie for 2-3 min and keep aside.
  • In the same pan with the left over oil fry the onion and garlic until garlic changes golden brown and keep aside.
  • Now grind the fried onion,garlic, hot dry chillie, coconut,salt, soaked tamarind to a thick paste add water if needed.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed when it start to splatter add the curry leaves. Cook for 1 min. 
  • Add this to the ground paste mix well and serve.
