Onion chutney

Ingredients:
Shallots  or small onion  -10
Tomato  -4
Split  black gram  -1 tsp
Split  Bengal gram  -1 tsp
Hot dry chillie  -7
Tamarind  -1 (gooseberry size )
Coriander leaves  - 1/2 cup
Shredded coconut  -1/4  cup
Garlic  -5 pods
Salt to taste
oil -as required

Method:

  • Soak tamarind in little water.Heat 4 tbsp of oil.
  • Add split black gram,split Bengal gram, hot dry chillie and fry until dal's turn golden brown. Remove from heat.Separate the ingredients from the oil.
  • Heat the same pan (oil left from fry ) add onion, garlic, tomato and cook until it becomes a mash.
  • Grind the paste along with coconut,coriander leaves, salt, soaked tamarind.
  • Chutney is ready to be served.
